Meet fashion designer and consultant Sabina Chopra, wife of Lakme business head Anil Chopra. Even at age of 50+, this lady can give any of the younger fashionistas a serious run for their money. Not only is she aware of the fashion trends, but she is a seasoned fashion consultant who helps women with their image makeover.

Apart from being elegantly turned out for every outing, she makes sure to few doses of quirkiness and individuality to her style statement. To summarize, we can say Sabina completely owns her looks. Even though she is wearing a designer wear, still she adds some of her personal elements with great oomph and style.

It’s always delightful to have a closet raid on Sabina Chopra aka Mrs. Lakme, who is these days designer Sabyasachi’s muse! Only if you’re pretty aware of fashion then approach her and she’s all there to entertain you with her depth of information on latest trends.

Even at 50, Mrs. Lakme manages to pull off the cutest clothes in the town effortlessly. You can even catch her in the most unusual pieces with effortless ease. For instance, she had worn a Christopher Kane Fall 2009 dress for Lakme Fashion Week. Even for 2010 spring, she had worn another number by the same designer.

Even though this label is aimed at younger generation, this matured fashionista has surprisingly managed to pull off with adequate oomph. And not to mention her golden Geoxx kicks which she has in collection of several colors, look super-comfy on her which she wears without compromising on class.

Take a look at her eclectic wardrobe and you’ll be amazed to see how this fashion guru has such a versatile collection apt for any mood and occasion and let me tell you her wardrobe is no age restricted, thereby offering inspiration to the fashion enthusiasts.

In another occasion, the always best dressed Sabina Chopra had worn a navy blue dress accentuated with yellow scalloped collar for “pre-party” of Lakme Fashion Week at F Lounge.Diner.Bar in 2012. She had completed her look with brown loafers. I just wonder why Sabina mostly prefers a bun neat look. Anyways, her wardrobe selection says it all.

After her bonding with the designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, she is now more often seen in his ensembles. Just like she showed up at Lakme Fashion Week in a colourful embroidered skirt and cropped jacket. I’ve always loved her Eliza Doolittle-meets-Freida Kahlo-esque fashion sense.

In 2012 Verve had listed her among the best dressed of the country and she was ranked 2nd. Here is a snippet from the list:

SABINA CHOPRA

For her passion and promotion of Indian design in what she wears and does

STYLE PHILOSOPHY

My simple philosophy on style is the same as it is about every aspect of my life: you have got to be thinking positive thoughts to feel good…and there is no way you can Look good if you don’t feel good…no matter how beautiful the dress. I always dress instinctively…and I stay very far from anything that’s ‘trendy’.

CURRENT LABEL LOVES

INSPIRING FASHION ERAS

I love all things vintage – so would say the ’40s and ’50s.

PLANNED OR SPONTANEOUS DRESSER

Totally spontaneous. If I had to plan my dressing, I would never leave my house!

HOW IMPORTANT IS IT TO SUPPORT INDIAN DESIGN TALENT?

Not only do I wear predominantly Indian designers, I also do my best to help them understand the customer. We have great talent in this country and I believe it’s very important to support that to keep our craft and textile heritage alive.

SOUL PIECE OF THE MOMENT

I am loving badges. They set my mood for the day and are a great accessory if worn right.

BIG PASSION

I love design – in fashion, in home, in product. I am so in awe of the creative process. I believe it awakens a new consciousness within all of us.

After being closely associated with the designer, Sabina has also helped him launch his latest store in Mumbai – Sabyasachi’s Love Child.

Sabyasachi by Sabysachi Mukherjee is cooler, younger and hipper and at the same time maintains the aesthetic values. While his elite list of clientele includes Vidya Balan, Kalki Koechin, Rani Mukherjee, Parmeshwar Godrej and Chanda Kochhar of ICICI. And they are all high in their sophistication quotient. Sabina Chopra, who is the creative head of this lavish boutique, recommends the dresses that best suit the personality and body type of the customers.
