After the grand opening of the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 by Manish Malhotra, the Day 1 of the event began with an all new fresh collection of worth whistling outfits by distinguished designers.
Here are a few for your delight:
Quirk Box
With ‘This Is Not Fashion’ motif, the Quirk Box quirked in a never seen before prints collection this Lakme Fashion Week 2016 Summer Resort. Being based entirely on art and everything French, the fashion world experienced humor and irony at its best. Vintage looks are in vogue at every Fashion show and hence you will find it even with Quirk Box with wide color palette keeping the fabric very summery. Delicate hand embroidery to highly detailed hand crafted works depicting the French Couture was the focus point of the designer. Ranging from crop tops, shorts, skirts, capes to kurtas, the collection was memorable.
Archana Rao
‘A Petticoat’, an innovative name for a collection so unique by the designer, is worth commending. An ode to the fictional character ‘Lolita’ the garb is all focused on delicate fabrics in lovely pastels and built around sheers and nets. It’s the comfort the inner wear gives, that the designer wants to bring to the outerwear as well. Striking back the heat of the summer, were the ruffles, appliques like small rosettes, crochet lace, polka dots etc. built extremely delightful and in a playful spirit.
Kanika Goyal
Making a statement that summer is not just about vivid and bright hues or pastels, the designer brought a new trend based on athleisure which has both athletic aspects to a lazed out theme. Keeping the playful school vibes in motion, the compilation revolved around net hoodies, crop tops, slogan t-shirts, shorts and shirt dresses designed in boxy style, oversized mode, all leather and embellishment here and there.
Anand Kabra
Exploring a different edge of fashion, the designer took pride in displaying his collection at the Level P6 Parking of St. Regis, a unique place to flaunt your art. His craftsmanship strongly portrayed his immense love for Indian embroidery which he demonstrated on lehengas, shararas, anarkalis, jackets and saris. Adding a Hyderabadi touch, he introduced fabrics like pitta, resham, aina, gota and zari with the glitter and mirror aptly woven.
Aditi Rao Hydari walked the ramp for the designer looking sophisticated and depicting a modern woman with trendy looks. She wore an all-black ensemble which involved a summery floral printed top and a full black skirt.
