Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards rolled out its carpet to welcome the who’s who of Bollywood and no celeb shied away from the celebration. Be it the internationally acclaimed beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan or a comparatively new Alia Bhatt, all dolled up, they came in to attend the celebration of fashion and style.
Styled by Sanjana Batra, Prachi Desai was seen in a strapless flared scarlet gown. The layered number from Nicolas Jebran collection gave the ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’ star a look she has never donned. Sanjana certainly did a great job completing the look with accessories from Anmol Jewelers.
The ‘Hate Story’ seductress had left us wanting for more. She teased the onlookers with her peek-a-boo styling. The high fashion halter neck dress by Kiran Gupta featured cut outs at the waist and Surveen undoubtedly has the body to carry such a piece. Keeping hands bare, the only accessory her stylist Sanam Ratansi wisely decided on was a pair of chunky earnings by Valliyan.
All controversies aside, Katrina Kaif looked jubilant having bagged the Smita Patil Award. She was proud and perfect in her strapless Oscar De La Renta gown in the prettiest shade of pink. Bianka, the make-up artist deserves a special shout out, for giving the Nargis Fukri pout to Katrina Kaif for a night – Hey, no pun intended.
The bubbly actress was unique in her Ulyana Sergeenko dress in steel grey. Stylist Ami Patel played wise picking this outfit for her. Contrary to one’s expectations from the young actress, Alia’s attire was exclusive in its cut and pattern.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
She might be under pressure on account of the uncertainty surrounding ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, accompanied by father-in-law Big B didn’t let it ruin the evening for her. She was as stunning in her Labour Joisie for Flimfare Glamour and Style Awards as she would have been at the Cannes. The sheer gown in black with an under lay in nude did bring back memories of quite a few gowns by Elie Saab the actress has rocked before.
Not sure how many knew of Kiara Advani before she made this sizzling entrance to the fashion awards this weekend. It takes a lot of guts to pull of an outfit of this caliber, especially in a Bollywood gathering where most of the gowns are still breathing in the 2000s air if not 90s. All glamorous in her black Gaurav Gupta number, Kiara has certainly made hers a known name in the fraternity.
Where has this beauty been all this while, I have been missing her since ‘Cocktail’. But now that I see her at the Fashion and style awards I gather she had been preparing for this entry. Diana was all Holly Molly in a Falguni and Shane creature. The nude gown was scrunched to define her tiny waist before spreading out in a lavish flare. I am loving her Harsh Sagar earrings. The Hidden Button did a great job styling her.
South is keeping her so busy that the Hindi movie industry is seriously missing her. No? Well, seeing her in this single shoulder cherry gown, producers must be lined up at her gates.
I won’t say this Shantanu Nikhil gown impresses someone fashion savvy and I am still trying to figure why exactly Neha Dhupia picked it? Guess tires are making a comeback. She definitely replicated Rihanna’s Red Carpet look.
The newly wed was slaying in her black and gold gown by Shantanu Nikhil. I love those bangs she is rocking. Wait, look – that cleavage though!
The ace actress was seen in a Nikhil Thampi dress. She has been popping the style charts these days, as they say. Well, whatever!!!
After a couple of misses, we decide on wrapping up this piece with Bollywood’s undisputed legend. Evergreen Rekha was rocking her staple six yards with time tested grace and we all fell mesmerized.
Bottom-line, Bollywood is taking baby steps toward international style. The outfit choices of most of our girls, discounting a few though, prove that we will claim the winning position in fashion podium soon.
