Top 10 Best Dressed Celebs at the 2014 Emmy Awards

by Fashionlady

The 2014 Emmy Awards came just in time to nothing but sunder the snoozy summer vibe which was pretty evident from the red carpet scene where the top 10 best dressed celebs at the 2014 Emmy Awards showed up in comfy day outfits and cut-out dresses instead of the traditional red carpet flowing gowns.

However, there was also a stalwart percussion of red carpet glamor – thanks to the exalted style moments by Taylor Schilling, Lizzy Caplan, Kate Walsh and Gwen Stefani to name a few.

The fashion choices at the 2014 Emmy Red Carpet were as discrete and momentous as the awards and performances, which were convoked by a close-knit theme of upbeat romance by Claire Danes’ lace Givenchy, Laverne Cox’s plunging neckline and Gwen Stefani’s shimmering Versace.

The Emmy Awards night was like an ocean of stars in vibrant shades of red and orange, flanked by overt embellishments, stark cut-outs and mini sparkles. Do have a look at the top 10 best dressed celebs at the 2014 Emmy Awards.

May the dress be with you

1. Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani surprised me for two reasons – firstly I had not expected Gwen would be there and secondly I almost didn’t recognize her. The 44 year old singer looked stunning, as if she had gone back in time at the Emmy night. She arrived in a Swarovski crystal-clad Versace skirt with a T-shirt-style top stacked with metallic cutouts.

The 44 year old singer in fact surprised everyone not for her outfit but for her incredible smooth skin and dewy undertone, leaving anyone thinking if the eternally ageless actress had done something with her face. The completely different look of Gwen made everyone asking a same question on Twitter that “what’s happened to Gwen Stefani’s face?

Apart from Gwen’s red carpet outfit at Emmy Awards and her youthful look, she was also in the highlight as she fumbled while presenting at the Emmy Awards.

2. Julia Roberts

Once a “Pretty Woman” always a “Pretty Woman”! Julia Roberts, who was nominated for Supporting Actress in a TV miniseries for HBO, The Normal Heart sparkled at the Emmy 2014 red carpet, as she arrived in a mini dark blue, beaded Elie Saab dress. Apart from her million dollar smile that she shared with the world at the red carpet, her mini embellished dress perfectly complemented her mile-long legs.

The 46 year old Hollywood siren, who has had some of the best dressed Oscar moments credited to her, once again startled the world with her drop dead gorgeous look.

One of Hollywood’s finest had chosen a mini navy blue full-sleeved Elie Saab dress flanked by beads all over and with a plunging neckline. Julia literally looked 20 years younger than her age, thanks to her million dollar smile. She completed her outfit with Wilfredo Rosado for Scarselli Diamonds earrings, Irene Neuwirth ring and Christian Louboutin peep toe pumps.

3. Claire Danes

As per Claire’s makeup artist Martin,

Claire’s Givenchy dress reminded me of the supermodels at the end of the ’80s and into the early ’90s–Karen Mulder in particular. She was always perfectly blonde with beautiful lips and eyes, and I’ve been dreaming of doing that look, but in a more modern way.”

While everyone was busy comparing Claire’s red lace Givenchy gown with Kim Kardashian’s wedding gown, I simply loved her red carpet wardrobe choice, especially the way she had accessorized it. Following the traditional red, Claire showed up at the Emmy Awards in cherry red Givenchy gown with slices of lace at waist and back, flanked by a skinny belt. She had accessorized her Givenchy gown with a collar of beaded red dragonflies, red lips and multi-strap sandals.

4. Taylor Schilling

Piper looks piping hot

Taylor Schilling, who was among the first to grace the red carpet on Monday night at Nokia Theatre in L.A., showed up in a figure-flattering Zuhair Murad couture gown.

The 30-year-old actress was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work as Piper Chapman in the hit series Orange Is the New Black. Earlier this year Taylor had told Allure,

“I don’t feel bound by my face or my body. I don’t feel like that’s the biggest gift I have to offer the world. I feel like there are more parts of me to offer than that.”

But for the 2014 Emmy Awards, she made sure to flaunt all of her best assets. On Zuhair Murad gown Taylor further added, “It’s a non-color. It didn’t feel like a throwback but it felt timeless.”

She completed her perfect ensemble with a white Rauwolf clutch, Stuart Weitzman shoes and some breathtaking Forevermark Exceptional Diamond Jewelry by Premier Gem.

5. Sofia Vergara

While others were following the traditional red, Sofia Vergara showed up in a sexy white silhouette which complemented her fit frame. The 41 year-old actress sizzled in a strapless floor length Roberto Cavalli ensemble that featured a structured, fitted top that showed off plenty of cleavage.

While the superb fitting of the gown flaunted her perfect frame, the fluttering sleeves gave her gown soft, romantic vibe. As she walked the red carpet, her designer Zac referred as ‘Coral Princess’.

The 41 year old supermodel had paired her gown with Jimmy Choo shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

7. Jessica Paré

Jessica Paré brought along-with her edge and sex appeal, as the stunning Canadian starlet arrived in a gorgeous little black dress by Lanvin that featured a sparkly beaded strapless top over a draped pencil skirt that gave the sensual silhouette an extra dose of oomph. The ‘Mad Men’ star complemented her gorgeous outfit with perfect hairdo i.e. a low bun. She completed her Lanvin LBD with Christian Louboutin shoes and bag, and Fred Leighton jewels.

8. January Jones

January Jones also joined the red brigade at the 2014 Emmy Awards. The classic silhouette of the bold red Prabal Gurung gown was accentuated with a subtle pattern and black piping that cut in at the waist. The major highlight of the gown was the raised hemline that enabled to flaunt her strappy sandals.

The actress had paired her gorgeous gown with Jack Vartanian earrings, Carla Amorim ring, Rauwolf clutch, and Christian Louboutin shoes.

9. Michelle Dockery

Michelle Dockery reckoned the red carpet fashion at Emmy Awards, as she arrived in a halter-style Rosie Assoulin dress in blue, pale pink, and light green. She had paired her vibrant sleek gown with Ana Khouri jewels, natural makeup and chic bun. Her perfectly toned shoulders made her look more glamorous and sexy.

10. Hayden Panettiere

The mom to-be Hayden Panettiere glammed up her baby bump in a glittering metallic gown by designer Lorena Sarbu. As she was getting prepped up for the 2014 Emmy Awards, the 25-year-old’s makeup artist, Amy Oresman posted a photo of hers on Instagram with a caption,

Getting ready for #emmys with #haydenpanettiere amazing dress for #mommytobe hair by the epic@clydehairgod makeup by me using #neutrogena.”

She had paired her dress with Salvatore Ferragamo heels, Judith Leiber clutch, and Fred Leighton jewels.

Hayden is wearing a glittering metallic gown by designer Lorena Sarbu, with her growing bump on full display. But we have to admit, our eyes didn’t go straight to her bump. Hayden’s Emmys dress features the deep, plunging V-neckline almost going all the way down to her belly dragged more attention than her baby bump.
