No matter what choices fashion provides us with, we look our best in the traditional avatar. Being Indians, we can proudly quote that our choice of colors, intricate detailing, embroideries, sequin and applique work, and the fusion of patterns is abundant and admirable.
From fashion weeks to red carpets, our designers have upheld the culture and beauty of our traditional attires creatively. And our true inspiration, Bollywood, recently shot us with a fresh dose of desi styles.
Here are the celebs in desi styles:
Giving us major ethnic goals are Alia Bhatt, Esha Gupta, Kajol, and Aishwarya Rai.
Summer calls for prints, anti-fit styles, stripes, and much more. And for one of her recent appearances, Alia showcased the prints fashion in Tarun Tahiliani label. While the off-white calmed the scorching heat, the bright orange prints and hemline added a vibrant summery vibe to the style. Since the outfit was high-necked, the diva simply added rusty silver Sangeeta Boochra earrings. The mid-parted sleek pony was Priyanka Borkar’s choice for the diva. And Puneet B Saini, the makeup artist, chose a fuss-free neutral palette that embraced the sun yet rendered the diva a beautiful and glowing look.
Styling credits go to Ami Patel and Sanjay Kumar Dauhaliya.
Esha Gupta was sighted looking like the perfect desi girl at one of the shooting sets. She looked as delicate and graceful as a rose in a blush pink blended silk lehenga set by Ranian with a net hand embroidered dupatta. A desi attire would be incomplete if the right accessories don’t add up. Hence the diva added Azotiique bangles and ring, and Zoya Jewels earrings that lit up her avatar. With half pinned soft wavy hair, luscious lips and piercing gaze, she was stunning. Styling credits go to Aastha Sharma.
For the promotions of Incredibles 2, it was surprising to see Kajol do a desi style. In a celestial white, embroidered salwar suit with straight fit pants by Anita Dongre, Kajol looked dream-like and heavenly. With white sandals by Rosso Brunello and minimal accessories, she perfected the monochrome style beautifully. Hairstylist, Sangeeta Kumar Hegde, and makeup artist, Mehek Oberoi did an excellent job in keeping her look simple and flawless. Styling credits go to Aastha Sharma.
To the screening of the documentary, Filmisthaan, Aishwarya Rai showed up looking elegant and chic in a cream salwar suit from House of Qidwa. The chikankari, self-color threadwork top complemented her complexion and gave her immense glow. With messy hairdo, dark kohl-defined smoky eyes and matte-finished nude lips, she rounded her style.
Haven’t they inspired you to expand your ethnic collection? Happy shopping ladies!
