Let’s look at the 5 Runway Manicure Fashion from New York Fashion Week.

1. ICB x Prabal Gurung-inspired nail art design

Prabal Gurung has been leading the ICB collection for 8 seasons in a row now. The major reason behind his wide fan following is that every season he comes up with something unique, versatile and extremely chic. He takes cues from the stereotyped things, which we usually overlook.

For instance, for Fall 2014, Gurung was deeply inspired by a vintage game-boy that he had come across in a thrift side at Lower East Side. This is how he managed to transformed the tweed fabric into houndstooth prints, pin stripes and both men & feminine silhouette.

Not only did he resurrect his innovative traits into his apparel, but he had even sent down his models donning similar designs on their nails. The nail art designs or the manicure fashion from Prabal Gurung’s show has become a huge hit lately. Tweed can also be preppy – the designer has proved it.

These runway manicure designs can match anyone from a downtown girl to those who love bohemian and hippie styles. The tweed effect, which was created by Butter London global color ambassador Katie Jane Hughes, is quite easy to achieve even for a beginner.

You’ll need Butter London Nail Foundation to use it as base and nail lacquer in Union Jack Black from the same brand. You’ll also require Billy No Mates, Stag Do, Blagger, British Racing Green, and Pearly Queen for your nail art design for a great eye-catching manicure trends.

2. Alexandre Herchcovitch

If you prefer nude nails then you’ll surely love this design. The nude nails couldn’t have got an edgy twist than the one created at Alexandre’s show. The creative director of Zoya, Rebecca Isa created this cute design, which is an easy DIY manicure design. You don’t have to be a pro to achieve this manicure nail art.

The runway does not completely justify the craftsmanship of this veteran Brazilian designer. While he is famed to dig into various levels of eccentricity to create some avant garde numbers, this time Alexandre went back in time for his Fall collection. While his creations were all vintage-inspired from bygone lace crocheting and embroidery techniques; he also made sure his models wore makeup to complement his creations.

When Libertine’s Fall 2014 collection at the New York Fashion Week had it all from sparkling skate-wear and embellished capes to  classic British-inspired overcoats and sweatsuit with crystal detailing; how could his models be sent down without any bling, including manicure fashion bling?

Libertine’s collection full of embellished coats and luxe furs was flanked by the heavily blinged out runway manicures. The black talon nail manicures of the designer’s models, which were adorned with sparkles, gave an edge to his designs that gave an edge to their look, making the nails look spark plugs on the New York runway.

If you wish to do this manicure at home, you’ll require Butter London Nail Lacquer in Black Knight, Diamond Geezer and also Butter London in Stardust, which will hit the market this month worldwide.

All you need is to first apply the Black Knight Butter London on the tips of your nails. Now apply the sparkling Diamond Greezer at the base slowly moving towards the tips. Use a black & white, silver chunky glitter nail paint like the Stardust by Butter London on the entire nail.

Before the nails dry, apply a holographic, diamond-shaped glitter at the tip of the nails for grunge effect.

4. Charlotte Ronson

Charlotte’s designs have always been feminine, pretty and wearable, which can effortlessly smack off a sunny disposition irrespective of their shades. Her eponymous label has a strong fan base right from high end clientele to the regular fashionista. For Fall 2014, the designer created a theme of dark fairy tale romance, for which she used loads of velvet, lace and leather in black mostly.

While her models were sent down in velvet spattered in poppies and technicolor rosebush patterns, Kiss Products lead manicurist Gina Edwards made sure their manicured nails complemented the designer’s outfits.

This is similar to the manicure design from Alexandre Herchcovitch’s show, except for the difference that bold color is used instead of keeping the nails nude. To do manicure nail art apply a deep red coat on the nail and then paint the lunula part by creating a half moon with black shade.

5. Tadashi Shoji

“For the past couple of years, I’ve been moving west to east. Now, I’m going from Africa to Europe,” the designer said on his Fall 2014 collections. His creations were hugely inspired by Moorish architecture, which were displayed through masterly fabric cutting accentuated with patches of embroidery.

His models were sent down in a series of velvet cocktail dresses and gowns burnished hues flanked by intricate crewel embroidery. In order to complement the strips of chiffon and velvet paillettes, the Butter London Nail Foundation created golden manicure in enriched marble elements.

The manicure fashion looked so delicate and shinning that one can skip wearing jewelries such as rings for the fingers. To get this manicure nail art look, you will have to create half moon as discussed above and finish it with a sleek top coat.
