Seems Indian wears are trending with Indian designers emphasizing and experimenting more on Indian silhouettes like saris and suits. Pushing the trend forward are Bollywood actresses who elegantly make appearances in desi avatars instead of firangi ones.
It all gradually began with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan spotting Indian sarees and Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s anarkalis at various events after she became a Bachchan Bahu. Later, Bollywood actress Vidya Balan too enlightened her style quotient and invested more on Sabyasachi outfits, grabbing the eyeballs of the global admirers.
Hence, Indian is in! Anarkalis and even simple suit salwars have become as flattering as evening gowns and short minis. Also, wearing an Indian suit will earn you brownie points from your parents and elders and a many compliments from your peers. You just need to ensure the right fit and interesting choice of colours.
We bring you a few trends that Indian actresses have been wearing off lately at many events.
- Floor Length Anarkalis
Flowing & flaring, Anarkali suits have become the most preferred choice for festive occasions. But our Bollywood actresses are choosing to adorn this Indian outfit to various Indian and International events. Vidya Balan flaunted her Sabyasachi floor length anarkali at the Cannes in 2013.
Also, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been elegantly donning this outfit by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla in her many public appearances post wedding. You can either choose to wear heavy anarkalis with zari or Swarovski work or simple plain cotton one for a casual outing! Ivory and indigo shades are again in the trend.
- Long Kurtas with Palazzos
Loose & airy are the words for the summer heat that makes long kurtas with wide salwars the most demanded outfit in Indian fashion! You can give the look a twist by wearing a well-fitted long kurta with a broad salwar or say palazzo like the way Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone were spotted flaunting.
You can also take inspiration from Sonam Kapoor’s look of a long umbrella shaped printed kurta with parallel pant for a more oriental look. In a traditional way, you can also wear parallel pants with long anarkalis.
- Short Kurtis with Patiala
You remember Rani Mukherjee’s look in the film Bunty and Bubbly? Or Kareena’s look in Jab We Met? You can also look fabulous in short kurti paired with Patiala salwar. Alia Bhatt recently spotted one in one of her film promotional events. She was also wearing a waist jacket over her kurti (which is another trend). Kareena Kapoor Khan also adorned the trend in block elegant colours. We just loved her outfit!
- Ban Neck
Deep cut neck designs are no more in the trend! Instead go for a collared one, which is also called ‘Ban Neck’ with full sleeves. The ban neck designs can be made on all silhouettes of the suits be it anarkalis or a simple suit salwar. No more skin show for the conservative women! They can also look stylish with this trend.
- Waist Coat
As we had told earlier, Alia Bhatt spotted this trend by wearing a waist jacket over her printed short kurti and neon colours salwar. Juhi Chawla also chose to wear a waist jacket over her white suits while Alia Bhatt also brought a twist to this trend by wrapping herself in a black long jacket over a suit. So what are you think? Don’t delay to try this one.
- Kitsch of Colours
Interesting, bright, neon and printed designs and colours are in the trends these days. Recently, Kangana Ranaut wore a Manish Arora’s anarkali, gaining attentions of one and all. A mix of interesting colours brings the fun element to any dress, so do the Indian outfits.
