Sonam Kapoor Weight Loss
Flab to fit – the Aisha actress has done a superb job.
It was during the launch of a book Confessions of a Serial Dieter penned by Kallie Purie in 2012 that Sonam had the following confessions to make “I have battled being overweight ever since I was 12-years old. By 15, I had put on so much weight and by 19 I was 86 kilos. I was borderline diabetic, I had PCOD and I had every weight issue I could have had. I was unhealthy when I was fat.”
Egged by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, it took Sonam good two years to get the “fit” status. She reveals, “I did three hours of yoga every day and followed a strict diet.”
Strange but Sonam felt uncomfortable after losing weight. Says she “In Aisha there was a scene where we all had to wear swim suits and while Lisa Haydon and Ira Dubey wore beautiful bikinis, I wore a basic costume with boyfriend jeans just because I wasn’t confident about my own body.”
To get into “Bollywood” shape, Sonam took the help of Nutritionist and Trainer Radhika Karle.
Workout Plan:
“Sonam does a combination of weight training and pilates every day. We break it up so that we hit different muscles each day. Weight training has helped her increase strength and pilates works to increase her flexibility, concentration, and balance while creating long and lean muscles. This combination has really worked to help Sonam lose inches. Sonam’s stamina has increased with regular cardio exercise which she does three times per week for 60-75 minutes in the evenings”.
On fitness, Radhika suggests Sonam to try something new every week – a dance class, pilates or even aerial yoga, in order to break the monotony.
Prior to Radhika Karle, Sonam Kapoor did workouts with weight-trainers Shervir and Monisha, pilates teacher Yasmin Karachiwala, and general fitness trainer Zarine Watson. Sonam also did power yoga and artistic yoga with Bharat Thakur, and got trained in Kathak to get a toned body.
Diet Plan:
Highlights of her meal plan as chalked out by Radhika:
Breakfast: Wheatgrass + green juice, whole wheat flat bread with tomatoes, hummus, avocado.
Lunch: Asian food and stir-fried veggies (rem’ber Sonam studied in Singapore, as mentioned above). Her favourites include – Quinoa or rice or flat noodles with stir-fried veggies like bok choy, Chinese broccoli, spinach, and morning glory.
Snacks: Coconut water, Nuts, berries with yoghurt, hummus with carrot and cucumber sticks.
Dinner: Soup – from dal soup to mushroom soup torasam + tandoori or grilled vegetables.
Guess the “weirdest” diet Sonam had? It was a “pineapple” diet when she was in boarding school and had to fit into her prom dress. Why pineapple because it has bromelain enzyme which burns fat. So before every meal, Sonam would have some pineapple.

We have seen many blazer and pant styles but Sonam Kapoor chose to do a blazer with a skirt and it turned out to be a hit. In a bubblegum pink Rajesh Pratap skirt and blazer, she looked smart and sweet. Although we wished to see red hot heels complementing the pop of red on the blazer, she chose to go neutral with tan colored booties. With smokey eyes, a tight updo and soft pink lip color, she earned a perfect 10 with her style.
Blue Mesmeric
It’s a skill to swing both western and Indian ways in fashion frontier and Sonam Kapoor proved that she can do it all. While the former style was a trendy note in the fashion world, she was seen doing an ethnic avatar for one of the Veere di Wedding promotional events. In a mesmerizing royal blue mirror work outfit by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, she fetched us a style that is worth loosening the strings of our purses. Mid parted braided updo, blue eyeshadow, and tradition-rich chand balis rounded her desi style.
Yellow Fad
Knocking us off our feet with her fashionable avatar was Sonam Kapoor at a recent Loreal event. Be it on the red carpet, or at a talk show or even at the airport, Sonam Kapoor has a unique way of carrying her self with utmost grace, elegance, and style. Sonam Kapoor attended the opening night of the Dubai International Film Festival in an ivory and blush-toned bustier gown and long coat from Ashi Studio. Sonam Kapoor was spotted in the city attending the Mumbai Film Festival organized by Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) rocking an off-beat yet impressive style.
