60th Filmfare Awards

60th Filmfare Awards
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan handing over the Best Actor award to Shahid Kapoor, there were many other memorable moments for Filmfare this year. For example – Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar’s hosting was amusing. Kapil Sharma’s jokes were actually funny.
The Crème de la Crème of the industry were in full attendance. For once, the award list didn’t look rigged. And last but not the least, there were a lot of Fashion hits among the celebrities.

Talking about Fashion, we couldn’t help but notice, there was a common colour theme followed by celebs this year. It was either striking reds or cobalt blues or ivorys or pastels or safe blacks. Was this coordinated? Our guess is as good as yours. Lets have a look at who wore what.

Killin’ it in Silks

Lets face it guys. No one wears silk like Rekha. We grew up watching Rekha in heavy Kanchivaram saree’s and we loved her style. So there’s no questioning her style. But what surprised us this year is how two leading ladies of Bollywood went the silk way. While Dia Mirza went for a lemon yellow saree with cobalt blue blouse, Vidya Balan on the other hand teamed her cobalt blue blouse with a dull antique gold saree. Which do you like? The actress of Bobby Jasoos or the producer? Our bets are on the newly wed Dia.

Who Wore it Better?

Ah. No red carpet event is complete, without celebrities walking down the carpet wearing a gorgeous red outfit. This year we had the ever so shy Amrita Rao in Astha Narang gown and the bold Sona Mohapatra wearing a BCBGMaxazria dress with a lovely Anand Kabra cape. Both the outfits got 10/10 from us and hence the deciding factor was the make up. No points for guessing that Ms Mohapatra won hands down.

Always the One to Stand Out

Deepika Padukone is yet to disappoint us with her fashion sense. On the red carpet at the Filmfare awards, Deepika Padukone wore a gorgeous Ashi Studio Couture gown and teamed it up with matching heels. Simple diamond earrings with pearl drops and an intricate updo completed her looks. The bold lips added a dash of colour to her outfit. We love!

Devil’s Spawn

If Bollywood ever remakes Maleficent and they ask me who to cast as Angelina Jolie. I’d have difficulty in choosing between these two gorgeous ladies. How amazing do they look? Ileana D’Cruz looks every bit of a dominatrix (minus the BDSM of course) in her Nikhil Thampi separates. The dramatic cape just adds to her powerful aura. Na? Thank God she didn’t go for red lips. And as for Ms Dhupia, she stole the show in her Alpana & Neeraj gown. Between the electric blue skirt, the huge bow, the slight quiff and the smokey eyes, we were rendered speechless.

Fairytale-esque

If Shraddha Kapoor looked like a princess who was about to attend her 16th birthday party. Then, Madhuri Dixit and Kajol looked like fairy Godmothers. Keeping it simple, Ms Kapoor wore a Shehlaa gown and teamed it up with dazzling diamond earrings from Gehna. What completed her look? Minimal make up and side swept hair. We like. As for Madhuri Dixit and Kajol, their colours were polar opposites. While Kajol opted for a Shantanu and Nikhil gown, Madhuri went with a Jade steel blue gown. Both of them looked good. Which one do you guys like better?

The Fashionista and her BFF

Now, it’s common knowledge that Ms Qureshi will soon be making her Bollywood debut. What she insists on, is, that she won’t be giving any competition to her BFF- Sonam Kapoor. At the red carpet, Pernia opted for a nude Nikhil Thampi gown which had cutouts and stuck to her body like second skin. She kept the look simple by sandy make up, pulled back hair and a golden clutch. Sonam Kapoor on the other hand went with a dramatic Anamika Khanna ivory outfit. What completed her look were jewels from her momma’s signature collection. But if we had to pick a winner, it would be Sonam. Those cutout just didn’t fare well on Ms Qureshi. What caught our eyes however, is how both of them wore the same sandals. Great minds think alike eh?

Many shades of Black

There were quite a few celebs who wore black for the awards. Kalki Koechlin wore a Nikhil Thampi saree with Outhouse jewellery and golden pants.  For Sophie Choudry it was a Monisha Jaising gown. Woah! She looked fabulous. Tanisha wore a Tanieya Khanuja gown which didn’t compliment her figure but we give her points for carrying it with confidence. Last but not the least there was Gauhar Khan wearing a Mayyur Girotra gown. Keeping it simple is doing wonders for her. Don’t you think?
