Beauty pageants, the word has different vibe to it and holds a very different meaning for each individual. While for most of the youngsters, it is a myth that beauty refers to only good looks, but many of us have learnt to accept that beauty pageants besides being about beauty are also about the strong, smart, healthy face that represents a country.
One of the ancient beauty pageants, Miss World, which began in Britain in 1951, took place this year 2018 at Sanya City Arena in Sanya, China. Miss Mexico Vanessa Ponce de Leon was crowned the esteemed Miss World 2018 title. Aged 26, the young Miss World 2018, looked mesmerizing at the event in a white embroidered strapless gown.
The young lady holds a degree in international business and worked both as a model and TV host. She is also an active volunteer with ‘Migrantes en el Camino’. She is also on the board of directors of a rehab center for girls. Isn’t that marvelous? Manushi Chhillar, the 68th Miss World passed on the beautiful crown to her successor, Vanessa Ponce de Leon at the ceremony.
The first runner up was Thailand’s Nicolene Pichapa Limsnukan, a 20-year-old studying business administration. And the second runner up was Miss Uganda Quiin Abenakyo. The other finalists hailed from Belarus, France, Scotland, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Panama, Mauritius, Uganda, Nepal, New Zealand and Thailand.
Here is a sneak peek at other contestants-
For the grand event, Manushi Chhillar dressed up smoking hot and classy in a shimmering black Sabyasachi lehenga. With sparkling diamonds, smokey glittery eyes, mid-parted sleek straight hair, and glossy pink lips, Manushi Chhillar looked every bit lovely. Styling credits go to Sheefa J Gilani.
Anukreethy Vas, who won the Miss India title 2018, was one among the contestants. She truly competed with great vigor at the Miss World 2018 race but had to accept defeat. This 20 year old from Tamil Nadu has won the Miss India 2018 competing with 30 promising contestants. She managed to reach the top 30 contestants at the Miss World 2018 but sadly didn’t make it to the Top 12 list.
Anyways, we always believe that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. What do you say?
