Saris are an epitome of elegance for Indian women in the fashion world, don’t you agree? We, while growing up, have often played ‘dress up’ and wore saris like our moms and eyed their collection as candies, isn’t it true? As much as each of us enjoys dressing up in modern silhouettes, the 9 yards theme always aces it all.
We usually look up to our mom for her fashion sense, but now, most of us surf through Bollywood styles for inspiration.
B-Town Sari Styles:
We brought together an assorted basket of sari styles showcased by our Bollywood favorites.
For a photo shoot, Tamannaah Bhatia posed in a pastel toned Faabiiana sari and looked every bit ethereal. The two-toned sari with intricate embroidery along the hemline and half of the sari, set a rich tone to her style. With a sheer cape, she added the perfect vintage feel to the style. The vintage updo and the beautifully-painted red lips were like an icing on the cake.
Madhuri Dixit was spotted doing two sari styles in black. While one banarasi sari by Anita Dongre stood out with the delicate golden thread work, the latter trendy style by Jade was equally impressive. Adding sparkling baubles that complemented her sari style, she looked fab!
Smoking hot was Esha Gupta, doing the 9 yards style in Falguni & Shane Peacock label. The shimmering sequined sari with fringe hemline was purely sensational and the diva did absolute justice in carrying it with a great attitude and grace. Adorning Zoya Jewels, Gehan Jewellery, and Anmol Jewellery that reflected well with outfit, she was glamorous.
Doing justice to the season perfectly, in terms of fashion, was Karisma Kapoor at a store launch in Jaipur. Dressed in a cream-colored linen sari from the store, the diva looked simple, yet stunning. With a bindi, kohl-defined eyes and braided updo, she was truly a delightful sight to sore eyes.
Of all Mahira Khan styles at Cannes 2018, the desi style was one of our favorites. The diva donned a Menehal and Mehreen pastel-toned sari with a racer back sleeveless embellished blouse for one of the events at Cannes. By tying up her tresses into a fishtail braid, she flaunted her racerback blouse along with sparkling jewels from Aliel Jewellers. She set the perfect example for contrast embellished blouse to the plain pastel sari.
Post wedding, fashionista Sonam Kapoor was spotted doing unique sari styles. She was spotted posing for the paparazzi along with her beau in a stunning Shehlaa Khan sari. Wearing an off-shoulder blouse, she rolled out a trendy sari style, don’t you think? Mid-parted half pinned hairdo and chunky silver earrings rounded her bridal style.
She was also spotted at the airport in an olive-colored sari by Masaba Gupta, with the pink floral painting on the sari giving the style an interesting finish. Wearing pink loafers, letting her hair down in nice swirls, she rounded her desi avatar.
Inspired with the sari notes of Bollywood? We certainly are!

Like an apsara was Kriti Kharbanda in a flowing white half sari style by The Little Black Bow label. The tapering floral belt line that complemented the well-placed floral work on the outfit was a fascinating feature of her style. With hair pinned into a pony and out of the way by Shefali, the hairstylist, and with minimal accessories, she looked fab! Beauty credits go to Heema Dattani. Styled by Anisha Gandhi and Rochelle D’sa, Kriti was angelic.
Sober yet stunning was Kalki Koechlin for a meet with the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau. Portraying the ethnic style with a modern twist in Anavila label, Kalki looked every bit pretty. Adorning Lara M jewelry that stood out over a high necked blouse, she caught our attention. Love the mini Gucci clutch!
Shilpa Shetty is well known for her unique, fancy styles at the super dancer TV show and her latest sari style was worth melting for. In an olive green Roshni Chopra Design sari style with striped dhoti pants and blouse, she rolled out a killer style. Azotiique jewelry, Amrapali jewels, Ritika Sachdeva ring and Fizzy Goblet juttis completed her style flawlessly. Love the side braided hairdo!
Doing the age-old saree style was Sonali Bendre at an event celebrating Maharashtra. Wearing color blocking sari style in Payal Khandwala was Sonali looking gorgeous. Statement jewelry from Amrapali Jewels, a bindi, and mid-parted straight hair rounded her style well.
