1. Eczema

If you are already suffering from eczema then you should be extra careful with your skin during winter, as this particular skin disease is prone to dryness, as often flaky skin leads to itching that only flares up the eczema symptoms.

So always make sure you moisturize your body regularly and drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated keeping skin drying at curbs.

2. Cracked heels and lips

Cracked heels and chapped lips are among the commonly seen winter skin complications and with dryness, these problems flare up. Sometimes chapped lips lead to bleeding and cracked heels to intolerable pain. There are women whose fingers also crack during winter that hurt them whenever they try to do something. Apart from applying moisturizer and body oil, you need to give extra attention to your cracks. Dip your fingers and feet in lukewarm water mixed with salt. It gives you relief from pain and also makes your skin soft, preparing them to repair through your crack cream.

3. Dryness leads to infection

Did you know untreated dry skin can sometime lead to infection? The cracked skin invites bacteria to build up that can create skin infections followed by itchiness and redness. Whenever you go out, make sure you have covered up your cracked heels and it’s also better to wear gloves to avoid them getting in contact with germs and bacteria. Also make sure you apply antibiotic cream that not only kills germs but also minimizes pain.

4. Itchiness

Dryness often leads to itchiness and this skin problem forces us to keep scratching the area at any given time or place. I have noticed how women scratch their hands that leave behind white marks behind. This not only looks awful but is also against beauty ethics. Sometimes, we also get this itchiness on our dried face and we scratch it. Since face skin is sensitive as compared to body, it results in further dryness and breakouts. If dryness is severe then only moisturizer won’t help, instead we should also apply anti-inch lotion on the problematic areas.

5. Flaky skin and patches

Dryness leads to flaky skin that not only leads to itchiness but also makes your skin look dull, as the dead skin cell deposits takes away the brightness of the skin. Apart from applying lotion, exfoliation is also a must in order to remove the dead skin cells. This not only brings back your body’s glow but also makes your skin soft and moisturized.

So now you would have realized what happens when you keep ignoring your winter skin complications. Better late than never. Happy winter!
