Any Indian meal is incomplete without a bowlful of curd. Whether taken in solid or liquid form (lassi or chach), curd is a great cooling agent for our bellies. No wonder, curd or yogurt makes our stomach and gut glowing with happiness when consumed on a daily basis.

Since it has loads of calcium, carbohydrates and proteins, it works as a good moisturiser for dry and chapped skin. Even when you are down with redness, skin acne and pimples, yogurt proves to be a brilliant remedy in reducing skin breakouts.
Now keep your fancy creams and lotions away and start using curd as a home remedy.
Summers are a big problem for dry and sensitive skin, causing sunburn. Just apply a bit of curd over your hands and face and you will notice the harsh bites of sunburn vanish off. Better still, you can add few chamomile drops to curd to get a cool soothing fragrance.

So many moisturisers are available in the market and they are not dirt cheap either. The best and inexpensive way to keep your skin feeling soft and smooth is going the natural way. After cleaning your face with water, apply yogurt over your face leaving the eyes and lip area. Keep it on for 10 minutes and then wash away. Curd exfoliates your skin owing to the presence of lactic acid in it. You can get rid of dry skin with lactic acid.
Looking at the pollution levels, improper food habit and hectic lifestyles that most of us have, premature ageing is likely to happen. This puts stress on the skin. Curd is a good ingredient in combating that. Make a yogurt mask by adding 2 tsbp curd and few drops of olive oil. Leave it for 30 minutes and keep applying it without fail three times a week.
Curd has a natural bleaching effect that fights out skin discolouration. All you need to do is combine 2 tbsp curd with few drops lemon juice. Once you have mixed it well, apply it over your skin and let it stay for 30 minutes. Then wash off with cold water. Do this thrice a week to notice results.
Tips on using curd for skin
Combine 1 tbsp of curd with 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add powdered oats to it in order to get a thick paste. Apply it on your face and neck and then wash off with hot water after half an hour to get the desired results.

For eliminating dead skin cells
Get egg, parsley and oats and mix them into curd. Apply this face pack on your skin and bingo you are close to getting smooth and clear skin.
Add 1/2 cup curd to 1 tbsp lemon juice. Put it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Now apply it on hands and finger nails for one week to see soft nail cuticles, shining toenails and glowing skin.
Apply dahi on the face regularly. This will reduce the appearance of fine lines and in the process it will moisturise your skin too.
To get White Skin
Mix 3/4 plain curd, 1/2 peach fruit, ½ piece cucumber and 1 carrot into a fine thick paste. Now massage it on your face and neck. After 15-20 minutes, wash it off with cold water. This face pack would help in moisturizing as well as whitening the skin texture.

For enhancing skin texture
All you need to do is blend yogurt with different fruits, lemon, honey or cucumber. Once you have mixed all the ingredients, massage it on your face and neck. Wash off with cold water after 15-20 minutes.
When not to use Curd?
If you have an allergic tendency to curd and dairy products, then avoid using yogurt masks. Should you feel burning sensation of any kind, then give it up and consult your physician. If you feel a tightened skin after yogurt application on face, apply a moisturiser to get skin protection.
