Braid is a braid. And it is called by different names – loose braids, poetic justice braids (justice of a different nature, I suppose), box braids (thankfully there’s no dishum dishum), single braids. My God the braid vocabulary is growing by the seams, but sounds interesting anyway. Oh, there is one more, grungy braid (which has no connection with holding grudges). Celebs such as Uma Thurman has sported a braid so you know the cross universal appeal of Braid 101.

Three-Strand Braid
As in the name, you need to take three sections of hair and keep juggling them by passing on section from either side in an alternate way. Though it might spin you for a minute but you will be able to complete it in a few minutes.
Four-Strand Braid
In this technique, you need to tie your hair off to one side with an elastic band. Divide your hair into four parts – a, b, c and d. First cross A over B, then A under C, D under A and D over C. Keep doing it until you have braided your pony.

Waterfall Braid
This romantic type braid has a whimsical feel to it. It gives you a feeling as if most of the hair is running down. In order to get it, take a small section of hair around the temple region, then go about braiding it. Drop one piece from the braid and pick another lock of hair. As a matter of fact, keep braiding and keep dropping the next lock of hair. It’s like picking a piece of your hair and then braiding it. Repeat this cycle to get the desired results.
